A Student’s Perspective of
Gathering Days: Vibrancy
Energy, Community, and Connection

Journey students rave about the exciting experience of attending Gathering Days. These on-campus encounters leave all individuals, students and professors alike, feeling rejuvenated and inspired.

Gathering Days facilitates an exploration of unique backgrounds and differing perspectives, where students can share their experiences together in a nurturing environment alongside their peers. Attendees arrive eager to meet their classmates in person, and are embraced and welcomed not only by fellow Journey members but all Iliff students.

“With a strong foundation already created in our class community, our group was able to dive right in to deeply engaged conversations that moved our thinking and writing forward.”

-Ivy Bourgon

“As a residential student, I watched Journey students come in and bring new energy and life to Iliff; and interacting with these new friends was invigorating for me. As a current Journey student, Gathering Days has become a place where I come to be renewed and motivated.”

-Georgia Metz

Gathering Days is sustained through the guidance of professors devoted to nurturing new and innovative ideas. Professors dive in-depth to academics, further clarify topics under discussion, and provide support in a community-based learning experience.

“Congregating together in one room from across time zones, faiths, and experiences, the professor led us into a deep dive of communal exploration. Through our diverse classroom community, I felt embraced and supported as a person new to the study of Christianity, which has now given me more courage in my learning at Iliff.”

-Linda Newell

When immersed in a traditional class setting, students further build strength within the Journey community. They feel happiness attending classes at the Denver campus, and are energized by bringing previously formed conversations, connections, and friendships to life.

“My favorite part of Gathering Days was the cohort retreat. It was a great combination of self-reflection, group activities, and learning more of each other’s stories. I found myself energized and recharged at the conclusion.”

-Geoff Gross
